Earth Tomorrow is a science-based environmental education and leadership program for urban teens. Programs have been running in Atlanta and Detroit for the past decade and reach hundreds of teens annually. Students participate in community action projects they plan and implement, such as habitat restoration, invasive species and native plant gardening.

Youth involved in the Earth Tomorrow program get hands-on training in environmental conservation and protection. Using after-school clubs, a residential summer institute and career guidance, this program nurtures the growth of future environmental stewards.

At the annual Earth Tomorrow Summer Institute, students participate in workshops that help them develop green community projects for their schools and plans for outreach to peers and members of other clubs, which they will put into action during the coming school year.

In Atlanta in 2007, teens installed a butterfly habitat at the Harland Boys and Girls Club in Atlanta’s West End Neighborhood, a low-to-moderate income community.

In Detroit, Earth Tomorrow students take the lead on community action projects including the creation of Schoolyard Habitat sites, on-going restoration of wetlands in the heart of the city, lead testing and drinking water awareness campaigns, and waste reduction and school clean-up days.
